We are looking for a senior Risk Engineer (m/f/d), with a focus on power plants and gas turbines.

The role can be based in Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart or Munich (Unterföhring) with regular site visits both nationally and internationally.

Your Team

Our Allianz Risk Consulting (ARC) team is made up of experienced engineers from a wide range of technical and scientific disciplines. The team provides a flexible range of risk consulting services, from natural hazards, fire safety, and human and organizational risk factors to in-depth analysis of industry operations, and financial exposures, across all industry sectors and risks.

We are able to call on many years of specific business risk experience, creating tailor-made risk management services to respond to unique challenges.

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the ARC Head of Natural Resources and Construction for Germany and Switzerland, you will be the key global expert in our Risk Engineering team for gas turbines.

You will assist Allianz underwriting in risk selection and mitigation and provide loss control expertise, support and assistance to our customers

Passionate about your fields of expertise, you will track technical developments and share knowledge, looking for continual improvements in risk assessment criteria and tools in close alignment with Claims and Underwriting teams.

You will represent Allianz Commercial in international technical committees and working groups and develop and provide internal and external technical trainings.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Be the main point of engineering expertise for gas turbines within the global ARC team

• Carry out risk assessments for a large variety of plants and operational risk and complete desk-top reviews

• Plan and carry out on-site and remote surveys, generating required reports and recommendations

• Work with underwriting, clients and brokers to develop customized risk management programs and support the development of insurance programs

• You will develop and maintain professional working relationships with our clients and brokers and Underwriting, Distribution, Communications and Claims teams

• Monitor 3rd parties ensuring adequate quality of work and monitoring budgets

• Follow up on technological developments in your area and proactively engage in knowledge exchange in internal expert groups

• Development of risk assessment criteria and risk assessment of new or prototypical technologies

• Collaborate with colleagues of claims department on large losses and establish lessons learned

• Proactively support the development of data-based tools for simplified and optimised risk analysis

• Create and present technical training presentations for internal and external stakehoders and customers

What You’ll Bring to the Role

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer, with a Masters’ qualification or equivalent, who has at least 5 years’ experience in the power industry with manufacturers, operators or service providers, with expert knowledge of gas turbines.

In addition, you bring:

• Commitment to remaining up-to-date with technological developments in these fields

• Native-level German and fluent English (Spanish and Italian would be an advantage)

• Open-mindedness and curiosity, regarding technologies, our multicultural and international environment and adapting to change

• Interest in presenting risk-related content at customer events and trainings

• Ideally you have experience in insurance processes, risk management and/or claims

• You have a strong interest in using state-of the-art data analytics and risk engineering tools

• You are able to integrate AI-driven insights into your work to optimize outcomes and support broader organizational goals.
